Checking Out

Gone for a few weeks. The good and the true have to be replentished on occasion by encounters with the beautiful. Y’all enjoy yourselves while I’m away. (I don’t golf myself, but I have heard tell that it can be one way to have an encounter with the beautiful).

Narrative gloss is such a great way to describe dogmatic Darwinism.

Why I Will Never Buy Another Starbucks Coffee

September 6, 2005 § 8 Comments

I admit it, I love Starbucks coffee. It has been a regular indulgence of mine for many years. But I will never buy another Starbucks product again, because I have children for whom I am responsible, and who are old enough to read what is on the cups I bring home. This morning my cup expressed this edifying sentiment:

“My only regret about being gay is that I repressed it for so long. I surrendered my youth to the people I feared when I could have been out there loving (sic) someone. Don’t make that mistake yourself. Life’s too damn short.”
— Armistead Maupin

(The sic is mine, naturally, to highlight the semantic error).

Adieu, Starbucks.
