Betting On Stupid

January 29, 2010 § 6 Comments

True, it is possible in principle that the Bishops are a feckless pack of dupes and idiots. Heck, there is even historical precedent for most of the bishops being material heretics.

But if the possibilities on the table are “the bishops are all a bunch of dupes and idiots” versus “I am a material heretic”, odds strongly favor the latter.

Is it possible that the both the bishops have succumbed to being dupes, and that the author at Vox Nova is a material heretic? (I dont mean every single bishop, naturally.) As examples, most of the bishops were guilty of at least complaisance during the 80's and 90's with the sexual abuse garbage. More than half of the bishops have permitted atrocious liberties with the mass in their dioceses. But I disagree with Vox Nova on this point most strenuously – if anything, the bishops were too tepid in their reaction to Obamacare.

There are a lot of great bishops out there. Ours in particular, Bishop Robert Finn, is taking matters in hand and bringing his sheep back into the fold.
Pray for our priests and bishops, but never malign them.
    Their burden is heavy enough.

OK, I've got a post written that I may or may not publish describing Vox Nova's advocacy on behalf of the unborn, basically how it's always wrapped in jabs at Republican pro-lifers, and stresses that whatever action it suggests Democrats take would be consistent with their promises and character, but that there is never any subsequent post criticizing them when they fail to follow thru.

Not sure if I should publish it.

  • JohnMcG says:

Ok — this last post trying to make Robbie George out to be some militaristic homophove clinched it for me. It's going up.

  • basically how it's always wrapped in jabs at Republican pro-lifers

Aye. This is a feature found all around–taking focus off of the act of picking up forceps and dismembering an innocent human being and instead talking about the shortcomings of those who insist is wrong.
